I agree that the feedback Favstar supplies has been an addictive and invaluable pleasure, and something I never would’ve imagined I’d receive in a million years. Unfortunately, it’s not always a particularly reliable gauge as to what’s funny and what’s not funny.
I’ve made strides to ween myself from the site over the past few months; I’ve removed the link from my profile, I almost never look at the leaderboard anymore, and I’m a lot less conscious about deleting my own tweets simply because they’ve performed poorly.
There seems to be so many people who seem more interested in using it more as a bartering system than as a genuine way to provide feedback. But I suppose the system could never be perfect.
Twitter/Favstar is pure, unmitigated ego.. Who doesn’t enjoy having their ego rubbed? And who doesn’t occasionally feel burned and bruised when it’s not?
